In the last two years, TECNO has released a handful of mid-range and premium smartphones that have a telephoto lens or camera. As such, we now have a small but growing list of TECNO phones with telephoto lens for photography enthusiasts to explore. One of the earliest was the Camon 18 Premier, which I still own.
TECNO phones with telephoto lens can magnify distant objects and create a shallow depth of field, resulting in a blurred background and a sharp foreground. A telephoto lens can also provide optical zoom, which is the ability to change the focal length of the lens without losing image quality. List of TECNO phones with telephoto lens
There are a few TECNO phones with telephoto lens that provide optical zoom, ranging from midrange to premium segments. Here is a list of them:
Phantom V Fold: This is a foldable smartphone with a 7.85-inch foldable AMOLED display, a Dimensity 9000+ processor, 12GB of RAM, 50MP + 50MP + 13MP triple rear camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging. The 32MP telephoto lens can provide 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.
Phantom X2 Pro: This is a flagship smartphone with a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, 12GB of RAM, 108MP + 12MP + 12MP triple rear camera, and a 5,160mAh battery with 45W fast charging. The 12MP telephoto lens can provide 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. It also has a unique feature of an extending wide-aperture telephoto lens, which can create a more realistic bokeh effect.
Camon 19 Pro: This is a midrange smartphone with a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, a MediaTek Helio G96 processor, 8GB of RAM, 64MP + 50MP + 2MP triple rear camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Phantom X: This is a premium smartphone with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, a MediaTek Helio G96 processor, 8GB of RAM, 50MP + 13MP + 8MP triple rear camera, and a 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Camon 18 Premier: This is a midrange smartphone with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display, a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8GB of RAM, 64MP + 8MP + 12MP triple rear camera, and a 4750mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The 8MP telephoto lens can provide 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom.
It is unfortunate that TECNO did not include a telephoto lens on the Camon 20 Premier, itself one of the best mid-range camera phones around today. I have no idea why. But it is a crying shame.
In 2024, we look forward to seeing more TECNO phones with telephoto lens released. They will come in the Phantom premium line-up, the Camon mid-range line-up, as well as the Phantom folding series.
Nice list of devices, the camera of the TECNO Phantom series have never ceased to amaze me.
TECNO has really shown intentionality in their innovation. They’re showing they want to take the lead in Tech and Mobile industry.
