Bank Verification Number (BVN) is a unique identifier implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria to streamline bank accounts in the country. With lots of numbers and identification tags to remember, it is easy to forget your BVN. But banks have setup a system such that you can dial a USSD to retrieve your BVN. This article provides you with the single BVN code for all banks in Nigeria and the different ways you can use it.
Because not everyone in Nigeria has access to the Internet, the system works without an Internet connection. You do not even need a smartphone. Any kind of mobile phone will do, including the basic feature phones with an alphanumeric keyboard. As long as you have network coverage, you can dial the USSD code for your bank to retrieve your BVN whenever you need it.

BVN code for all banks: USSD code to dial
To check your BVN on your mobile phone on any bank in Nigeria, dial *565*0#. This works for any bank – Guaranty Trust Bank, Access Bank, Stanbic IBTC, First bank, Ecobank, Zenith Bank, Union Bank.
Dialling the *565*0# USSD code works regardless of the mobile network you are using, be it MTN, Globacom, Airtel, and 9mobile. Your bank Verification number will be displayed on your phone screen.
What kind of phones does this code work on? All types – feature phones and smartphones by all mobile phone brands: Samsung, Nokia, TECNO, Infinix, itel, iPhone, Cubot, etc. Feel free to use this BVN code regardless of what phone you have.
Use the BVN code for all banks on MTN, Glo, 9Mobile, and Airtel
If you want to check or retrieve your BVN, all you need is a mobile phone. It does not matter what network you use. Each BVN is attached to a phone number – a number that you submitted when registering for your BVN. Simply dial *565*0# on your phone with that number or line in it and the system will display your BVN. It is a good idea to copy it out and keep in a secure place.
How to check your BVN without using a phone
Some banks also have your BVN displayed in their mobile app or Internet banking platform when you login. So, you can also login to your bank app or Internet banking system to check/retrieve your BVN.
Use the BVN code for all banks to check your attached phone number
It is possible that you have multiple mobile numbers and do not remember which one is attached/registered to your BVN. So, how do you check your BVN phone number? This is quite easy too.
Dial *565*0# from each of your mobile numbers till one of them displays your BVN. Whichever one displays your BVN is your registered BVN phone number. Again, it is a good idea to write it down and keep it in a secure place.
How much does it cost to use the BVN code for all banks?
Using the service is not free. Each time you dial *560*0# to check your BVN or to use it to confirm which of your lines is attached to the service, you will be charged the sum of ₦20.
