By all indices, the year 2020 was a difficult one for everybody – manufacturers and consumers alike. In Nigeria, it has been even more difficult than the average. The currency exchange rate has gone through the roof, and since the country depends on importation of goods, the prices of mobile phones have gone through the roof as well. This has carried over into 2021.
A year ago, some of the smartphones listed here would be on a list about the best smartphones under N20,000, but here we are today. It is pretty difficult to find lots of smartphones under 30,000 naira any more. If you have the cash and are shopping for phones within that budget, we have got you. We have five smartphones on this list, plus a bonus model that costs slightly above N30,000, should you be able and willing to spend the extra cash.
itel A36 sells for N23,500 and it is the most affordable device on this list. It is a 2020 model, runs Android 9 Pie (Go Edition), has 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 3020mAh battery. The display is 5.5 inches in size.

Nokia C1 was announced in December 2019, making it a 2020 device, technically). It sports a 5.45 inch display, and runs Android 9 Pie (Go Edition). It has 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 2500mAh battery.

Next on our list of top smartphones under 30000 naira is itel A56. If a big battery appeals to you, you will like the fact that it has a 4000mAh battery. The screen is on the big size too, at 6 inches.
itel A56 was announced in March 2020 and runs Android 9 Pie (Go Edition). It also has 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. How much is it? ₦27,000 only.
TECNO POP 3 is from December 2019, Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), which means it has the most dated software on this list. Like all the other phones on this list, it has 1GB RAM and 16GB storage.
Display size is 5.7 inches and battery capacity is a comfortable 3500mAh. Price? ₦29,000.
The last, and definitely not the least, of our top smartphones under 30000 naira is itel S15, a mid-2019 model that might interest you, especially because it was a flagship device for the brand that year. That means it has the best build quality and design available from itel Mobile in 2019.
Internally, it isn’t much different from other devices on this list. It has a big 6.1 inches display, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 3000mAh battery. It runs Android 9 Pie (Go Edition). THe S15 will cost you exactly ₦30,000.
