If you can’t find TECNO Pop 4, get one of these alternatives

The Pop 4 is a hot entry-level Android phone. If you are unable to get your hands on one, this article points out a number of TECNO Pop 4 alternatives for you to consider

TECNO Pop 4 is a 2020 Android smartphone from the stables of TECNO Mobile. Since its release, it has proven to be quite popular. No surprise, considering its specs to price ratio. The Pop features a 6-inch display, 32GB storage memory, 2GB RAM, and a beefy 5000mAh battery. This is a 3G smartphone, so you can expect the best battery life from that battery.

Also, considering that it runs the highly optimised Go Edition of Android 10, the enrty-level processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage will deliver much better performance. Again, the Pop 4 is an attractive phone. But it is proving to be difficult to find in the market, perhaps because it is flying off the shelves or it was produced in limited quantity. If you are unable to get your hands on one, this article points out a number of TECNO Pop 4 alternatives for you to consider.

TECNO POP 4

The criteria  used for determining what TECNO POP 4 alternatives are listed in this article are as follows:

  • Up-to-date software: this means the Android versions on the phones are recent, and preferably Go Edition
  • RAM of at least 2GB: this is important for multitasking and to ensure fairly smooth performance
  • Internal Memory of at least 32GB
  • Battery Capacity of at least 3000mAh
  • Price of within reasonable range of the price of the Pop 4.

TECNO Pop 4 Alternatives

Having set out our criteria, here are the qualifiying smartphones that you should consider if you are unable to get your hands on the Pop 4, or want something different from it.

Nokia 2.2

Nokia 2.2 is a TECNO Pop 4 Alternative

Top on our list of TECNO Pop 4 alternatives s HMD Global’s Nokia 2.2. For starters, if you are big on having a phone that looks tasteful, this Nokia ticks that box. It has a slightly smaller 5.7-inch display and shipped with stock Android 9 Pie.

The good thing about buying a Nokia smartphone is that it gets updated for 2 years, and gets monthly secutrty updates for 3 years. That means you have a smartphone that is up-to-date for the most of 3 years. For example, it has already received Android 10 inm April 2020.

Other features of Nokia 2.2 include 16 GB storage and 2GB RAM. I know I said this list is based on 32GB storage, but the Nokia 2.2 offers so much value in other ways that I am making an exception with it. For example, while the Pop 4 is a 3G smartphone, Nokia 2.2. adds 4G LTE internet to the mix.

The battery capacity is 3000mAh, but stock Android offers the best battery optimisation available, so there isn’t much to fear. There iis USB-OTG, so you can plug USB devices to your Nokia. And this is a dual SIM phone too.

For photography, the rear camera is a 13 megapixels snapper, while the selfie camera is a 5MP snapper. One thing you will miss on the Nokia 2.2, though, is fingerprint scanner, and that is a bummer. It is a dealbreaker for lots of people. Of course, there s Face Unlock, if you are into that.

Nokia 2.2 is available for ₦33,000 in stores around the country.

TECNO Spark 3 Pro

TECNO SPARK 3 Pro black

The next TECNO Pop 4 alternative is another model from TECNO. The Spark 3 Pro packs a 6.2-inch display and runs Android 9 Pie. Don’t expect any software updates from TECNO, but Pie is recent enough.

At the top of the display is an 8MP selfie camera, while at the rear is a 13MP dual camera. There is a fingerprint scanner at the back too.

Inside TECNO Spark 3 Pro is 32GB ROM (that’s storage memory), 2GB RAM, and a 3500mAh battery. This is a 4G LTE phone, which gives it an edge over the Pop 4.

Note that there are lower specified non-Pro models called TECNO Spark 3. Those ones have less capabilities and cost less. What you want to ask for when buying is TECNO Spark 3 Pro with 2GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. Don’t forget that.

You need to have ₦33,000 to go home with a brand new Spark 3 Pro.

TECNO Spark 4 Air

TECNO Spark 4 Air front and back cameras

Want a bigger battery than 5000mAh? TECNo Spark 4 Air is present. Well, not exactly. What it has is a 3000mAh battery, but TECNO Mobile say they include a spare battery of the same capacity in the sales box. I am not quite sure what to make of that, but an extra battery isn’t a bad thing.

It has 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and ships with Android 9 (Pie). The screen size is a nicely-rounded 6.1 inches in size and there is 4G LTE connectivity.

For your selfies, we have a 5MP camera (with flash) at the front side of the phones, and there is a 13MP dual camera with dual flash at the back.

This TECNO Pop 4 alternative will set you back by ₦37,000.

Partner Mobile EV1

Partner Mobile EV1 front back blue black

Partner Mobile is not a very popular brand, but they have been around for some years and offer a model that fits our criteria for TECNO Pop 4 alternatives. With a display of 6.2 inches in size, Partner Mobile EV1 is the only phone on this list with 3GB RAM, whiich is a big deal. There is 32GB ROM for your files and photos.

Unlike the Pop 4, this is a 4G LTE phone. It runs Android 9 Pie though, and it is dual SIM. For photography, there is a 5MP for selfies and a13MP camera at the rear. Battery size is 4000mAh.

What is the price of Partner EV1? ₦39,000 only.

Infinix Smart 5

Infinix-Smart 5 is a TECNO Pop 4 Alternative

Last but not the least of TECNO Pop 4 alternatives on our list is the 2020 Infinix Smart 5. It has up-to-date software, Android 10, and it is the highly-optimised Go Edition. You should get really good performance out of this model.

Display size is a large 6.6 inches. Storage memory is 32GB, and RAM is 2GB. The rear camera is a 13MP rsnapper with three lens, while the selfie camera in front has an 8MP lens with dual-LED flash. There is a fingerprint scanner here.

A big 5000 mAh battery keeps the lights on in this 3G smartphone. Sorry, but there is no 4G LTE here. The 4G variant has 3GB RAM and 64GB storage, which is way above the pay grade of this list.

Infinix Smart 5 2GB RAM + 32 GB ROM costs ₦39,500.

TECNO Pop 6

In 2022, you should consider the latest Pop model, TECNO Pop 6. As a descendant of the Pop 4, it just might be what you are looking for.
