The time is almost here, let’s talk about the iTel S16 successor. The iTel S16 was launched on the 6th of October 2020, so definitely we are approaching the launch of a new device from the S-series. Over the years, iTel has made it a tradition to launch a new device in the S and P series once every year, which is a good one for their market from my point of view.

In this article we will consider what we loved about the iTel S16, what needs to be improved on and what features we want back on the iTel S16 successor. So without any further delay let’s get on with the business of the day!

What We Loved About The iTel S16!

The company iTel has stolen the hearts of a lot of people here in Africa, this is as a result of the budget friendly nature of their devices and iTel S16 lived up to the reputation. Priced below 50,000 Naira the iTel S16 came in three variants, the S16, S16 pro and S16 pro LTE.

The S16 was the cheapest in the line-up with the following specs:

  • 6.5″ inch screen water drop display
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • Android 10 go
  • 3G connectivity
  • 8mp front camera
  • 8mp back main camera with a triple camera setup
  • 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM.

The S16 pro took iTel to a whole new level when it comes to design with it’s new dot-notch display. It has the following specs:

  • 6.6″ HD+ Dot-notch with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90% screen-to-body ratio
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • Android 10 go
  • 3G connectivity
  • 8mp front camera
  • 8mp back main camera with a triple camera setup
  • 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM.

Well at a price higher than that of the S16 pro you could bag the iTel S16 pro LTE with a few noticeable upgrades from the pro model. The iTel S16 pro LTE has the following specs:

  • 6.6″ HD+ Dot-notch with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90% screen-to-body ratio
  • 4000 mAh battery
  • Android 10 go
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • 8mp front camera
  • 13mp back main camera with a triple camera setup
  • 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM.

These devices where a total overhaul from their predecessor the iTel S15 lineup in a few noticeable ways like they where noticeably sleeker at just 8.3mm thickness, they had a cleaner and more attractive design and came in a new packaging for the pro models, as they came packed with a wireless Solopod earphone as against the regular wired earpiece.

But the fact that the iTel S16 series came with a ton of cool features does not mean that it ticked all the boxes right, let’s talk about an important features that we want back on the iTel S16 Successor.

The iTel S16 Successor Needs It’s Crown Back.

iTel S15 pro.

The issue of camera particularly selfie abilities takes us to a feature that iTel totally left out on the S16 series. Selfies; yes, the iTel S series where know for their outstanding selfie capabilities as the selfies packed more pixels than the main camera. Even on the official iTel website there are three major products (S series-Selfie, P series-Max power, A series-Basic). Let’s as well take a look at previous iTel S devices launched before the S16 and see the selfie power they packed.

First we will look at the S13, we did an unboxing of the devices here on the site and it can be accessed here. This device had a 13 megapixel selfie camera that was really good.

The S13 was succeeded by the S15 and we also have a review of that device here and again this device packed a 16 megapixel selfie camera.

Now for the S16 you can as well find our review of that device here on the site. Along with the S16 series amazing specs it packed an 8 megapixel selfie camera. That was a huge downgrade to the selfie ability on the two S series devices launched before it. It was like iTel was no longer living up to its name in the S series lineup. Dear iTel, we want our selfie back in the next S series lineup.

Yes, the selfie ability of the iTel S series will be a lovely feature that we will love to see again on the iTel S16 successor. Asides from the selfie capabilities we know that iTel will do a good job when it comes to nailing the specs of this budget device.

Update: iTel S17 has been announced.

Is there any feature you will like iTel to also introduce to the S series? Lets us know in the comments section below.
