MTN Nigeria upgrades 3 cities from 4G to 4G+

Nigeria’s largest mobile operator, MTN, has upgraded its 4G networks in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt to 4G+, also known as LTE-Advanced.

4G+ is a more advanced version of 4G and provides faster speeds and better latency to users. 4G+, or accelerated 4G, can reach speeds up to 2.5 times  faster than 4G.

A statement by the company says that the new 4G+ network runs on the recently acquired 800 MHz and 2600 MHz spectrums and will deliver speeds of up to 200 Mbps.

Regular 4G has a theoretical maximum speed of 100 Mbps. As such mobile data subscribers in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt who have compatible smartphones may expect a much better experience with MTN 4G+.

  1. No wonder I’ve been seeing this my phone signal, but i never knew it was all about this. This is a great development from MTN, what next now is to provide more affordable data plans.
