MediaTek Dimensity 9300 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

A number of techies and smartphone enthusiasts are of the opinion that Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets are always superior to their MediaTek equivalents. But this is not true. It is not always so. And in the case of the Dimensity 9300, it certainly isn’t true. The Dimensity 9300 not only matches the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it actually narrowly edges it out in CPU performance [1]. And that is saying something.

Technical Features of MediaTek Dimensity 9300

  • An octa-core CPU with four Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 processors, which provide 15% single-core and 40% multi-core performance upgrades compared to the previous generation.
  • A Mali-G720 Immortalis GPU with 12 cores and a hardware raytracing engine, which supports 8K video playback and console-level global illumination effects.
  • A hardware generative AI engine, which enables faster and safer edge AI computing and supports on-device LoRA Fusion.
  • Support for LPDDR5T 9600Mbps memory, UFS 4.0 storage, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
  • A maximum display resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a maximum camera resolution of 320MP.

The SoC for Top Gamers

Being a top end premium chipset, the Dimensity 9300 is the perfect processor for gaming. If you are a gamer, this is the kind of processor you want in your smartphone. And smartphone brands are already positioning to market upcoming Dimensity 9300 phones as gaming phones.

Smartphones with MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC

Some of the phones that will use the Dimensity 9300 chipset are:

Vivo iQOO Neo 9 Pro, a gaming smartphone with a 6.7-inch display and a 200MP camera. It is reported to have scored 2,334,911 on AnTuTu v10 benchmark.

Vivo X100 Pro, which scored 2,257,733 on AnTuTu v10 benchmark. The Vivo X100 Pro is a flagship smartphone that features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a Dimensity 9300 chipset, and a triple rear camera with a 50 MP main sensor. It runs on Android 14 with Funtouch 14 or OriginOS 4 and supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It also boasts ZEISS optics, a hardware generative AI engine, and a 7th-generation AI processor

Vivo X100: The Vivo X100 is a smartphone that is similar to the Vivo X100 Pro, but has some differences in the specifications. For example, the Vivo X100 has a 64 MP main camera instead of a 50 MP one, and a 4500 mAh battery instead of a 5000 mAh one. It also has a slightly thinner and lighter body, and a lower price. The Vivo X100 still features the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset, the 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display, the 32 MP selfie camera, and the ZEISS optics. It is a high-end smartphone that offers a great performance and a stunning design. It scored 2,249,858 on AnTuTu v10 benchmark.

An un-named Infinix gaming smartphone has been said to clock 2,215,639 on AnTuTu v19 benchmark.

OPPO Find X7 series, which includes the Find X7 and Find X7 Pro models.

TECNO Phantom V2 Fold, which is a foldable smartphone with a 7.8-inch display.

The above list is not exhaustive. Other smartphones using the Dimensity 9300 processor will still be announced by other brands in the course of the year. 2024 promises to be an exciting year with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC.
