Recently, Huawei published a list of smartphones that will receive the new EMUI 10 update (based on Android 10) with the Huawei Y9 2019 conspicuously missing from that list. At the time, the company claimed that the Huawei Y9 was not equipped to run Android 10 due to a number of hardware limitations.
However, owners of the device did not take too kindly to this piece of news, as they were not happy with the fact that the Honor 8X, which was released around the same period as the Huawei Y9 was getting the Android 10 update, while the Y9 was being ignored.
In a matter of weeks, thousands of Huawei Y9 users took to the internet to start a petition regarding the situation and try to force Huawei to extend the new updates to their devices.
This effort seems to have paid off, as the tech company recently revealed that the Huawei Y9 will get the Android 10 update. Responses from their page on a social media network suggested that the new update will come in a matter of months.
With the petition seeming to have paid off, owners of the Huawei Y9 will keep their ears to the ground to get the latest news on when the Android 10 update will be rolled out for their phones.
