CEO, MTN South Africa, Ahmad Farroukh, resigns from seat

In an internal statement released today, MTN CEO, South Africa, Ahmad Farroukh has announced his resignation. It is deemed to take effect starting July 31st. This is a position he took up last year, and it’s not really clear, the reason behind this decision.

MTN Group CEO, Sifiso Dabengwa said in a statement:

“This was a difficult decision to take for Ahmad, but unavoidable due to personal and family reasons,”

Without giving any further details.

This announcement comes amidst tensions as workers have been on strike for close to 2 months,and this has greatly affected their South African operations. The departing executive joined MTN since 2006, and has worked as CEO in Nigeria and Ghana divisions of the firm.
