Which Is The Best TECNO Flagship Phone To Buy in 2024?

Many years ago, in 2006, to be precise, TECNO Mobile started out as a manufacturer of affordable feature phones and entry-level Android smartphones, and they have done a good job of it. And then on 2021, the company established the Phantom brand as it’s flagship-grade sub-brand and rolled out the first TECNO flagship phone, the Phantom X. See our Phantom X review.

TECNO’s Phantom brand has been growing since then, still offering near premium flagship experiences at considerably lower prices than competitors in the market. The Phantom X range of phones were the only TECNO flagship phones being produced until 2023 when the company introduced their first foldable devices, the Phantom V Fold and the Phantom V Flip. And so, suddenly, buyers had multiple options of TECNO flagship phones to pick from.

Which TECNO flagship phone is best for you?

With three Phantom ranges to pick from, which is best for you? Let’s look at the available options.

Phantom X series:

The phones in the Phantom X series include the original Phantom X, the Phantom X2, and the Phantom X2 Pro. These are normal bar-shaped smartphones offering flagship grade experiences. We will likely see a Phantom X2 and X3 Pro released in 2024.

The Phantom X series is perfect for users who want a regular smartphone with flagship performance at a modest price.

Phantom V Fold series:

There is only one model in this series for now, the V Fold released in 2023. The series is for large, book-style foldable devices similar to the Google Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. We are expecting a Phantom V Fold2 to be announced in the course of 2024.

The Phantom V Fold series is perfect if you want a fairly normal looking phone that can open to give you a much bigger display for media consumption. It is great for watching videos, especially, and also probably for editing documents. Of course, the Phantom V Fold series has the most expensive TECNO flagship phones, so if you want one, be ready to spend significantly more than you would if you were buying a Phantom X or a Phantom V Flip.

Phantom V Flip series:

The Phantom V Flip series provides the small, compact, clamshell foldable style, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series. You can watch my YouTube video review of the Phantom V Flip.

We are expecting its successor, the Phantom V Flip2, to be announced during the course of 2024.

The Phantom V Flip series is great for those who want to be able to carry a phone around in a super compact form factor and then open it up for use as a normal phone. Phones in this series are shaped like the flip phones from years ago, but pack modern specs and features.
