Anker PowerCore 10000 PD+ power bank packs a punch

I got my hands on the PowerCore 10000 PD Plus power bank and came away with a pleasant experience. This power bank/portable battery has a 10000mAh battery capacity, which is enough to charge your smartphone twice or thrice. And if your phone supports it, the charging occurs at high speed.

If you own a smartphone that supports USB Power Delivery or Qualcomm Quick Charge and need a power bank to use with it, it only makes sense to get one that supports either of those two fast charge standards. Which is why the PowerCore 10000 PD Plus is a solid option.

Anker makes quality smartphone accessories and it is no different with this product. Holding it in your hand, you get the distinct feel of a well built product.

This portable battery has a power button and LED indicator so you can tell how charging and discharging is going on at a glance. Each light on the LED indicator represents 25% power

To enjoy fast charging of the power bank itself, you need a fast charger that supports 18W charging or 18W Power Delivery. Thankfully, I have a few around, including the PowerPorte +1 18W fast charger, so I put that to use. Any other charger that supports 18W quick charge or Power Delivery will do

The power bank has two cable ports – one is USB-A, wile the other is USB-C. The latter is for charging the device itself.

Both ports can be used for charging your phone or tablet. The USB-C port is for smaller gadgets like smartwatches and Bluetooth earphones.  To charge these smaller accessories, plug the accessory in question to the USB-C port and press the power button twice to activate trickle-charging mode. When done, press the button again – once this time – to exit trickle charging mode, so you can use it to charge your phone or tablet.

To charge your phone or tablet, plug it into either of the two ports (depending on the cable you have available) and it will start charging.

Both ports support fast charging. If your phone supports Quick Charge 3.0 or Power Delivery, the charging process is faster. If it supports a slower fast charge standard, it will charge at that speed, and if it does not support any fast charging, it will charge at regular charging speed.

You can use the USB C-C cable included in the box to start charging your phones and tablets, and you can use any USB A cable lying around as well. Having these options is quite convenient. As a matter of fact, you can charge two devices at the same time.

The PowerCore 10000 PD+ by Anker sells for ₦12,000 in Nigeria. That price will make some people squirm, but if you have a top quality smartphone, getting top quality accessories for it is the reasonable thing to do. The PowerCore 1000 PD Plus supports iPhones (Lightning cable not included), Android phones, smartwatches, tablets, and every conceivable mobile gadget you can think of.
