After weeks of teasers and leaks, TECNO’s camera-centric Camon C9 is finally here. We will come back to its capabilities as a camera phone later. For now, we want to see how smooth it runs as a smartphone. It sports an octa-core 1.3 GHz processor and 2G of RAM, as well as a Mali-T720 graphics processor to assist it with heavy graphics lifting. Here are the results of our TECNO Camon C9 performance tests.

TECNO Camon C9 performance tests

The Camon C9 performance tests results

  • Quadrant: 22,291
  • Geekbench 3: 630 Single-Core; 2,949 Multi-Core
  • AnTuTu: 38,767

It actually beats TECNO’s 2015 flagship, the Phantom 5. Here are the P5’s scores:

  • Quadrant: 21,415
  • GeekBench 3: 611 single-core, 2,737 multi-core
  • AnTuTu: 33,669

In normal use, the Camon C9 runs smoothly – significantly smoother than the Boom J8 (which is powered by a quad-core processor and feels under-powered here and there during use). The test results corroborate that too. Here are the Boom J8’s scores:

  • Quadrant: 14,233
  • GeekBench 3: 623 Single-Core, 1,807 Multi-Core
  • AnTuTu: 32,037

TECNO Camon C9 performance tests: Conclusions

What we have here is a mid-ranger that performs well. It runs Android Marshmallow underneath TECNO’s HiOS interface. But what everyone probably wants to find out is how good those two 13 megapixel cameras are. Hang in there. We have pit the Camon C9 against one of the world’s best cameraphones. Our Camon C9 camera shootout is on the way.
