This time, Motorola ticked all the right boxes with the Motorola Razr+ (2024). I love the looks, I love the specs, I love the full package. While it is sold in the USA and Canada as the Motorola Razr+ (2024), it is sold elsewhere in the world (Europe, Asia, and Latin America) as the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra. I wonder why Motorola keeps that dichotomy in the naming. Do you have any idea why?
Anyway, the Razr+ (2024) brings a number of improvements over its predecessor. For example, the cover display of this clamshell/flip Android smartphone is bigger, it got a telephoto camera, and it got proper waterproofing. What’s not to like?

What are the key specs of the Motorola Razr+ (2024)? They include a solid 4.0-inch 1272x1080px cover display and a 6.9-inch 1080x2640px display when opened up. Both displays are blessed with 165Hz refresh rate, up from the 144Hz refresh rate in its predecessor. The cover display has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

That appears to be the standard size for the inner displays of flip smartphones now. Can someone make one with a 6.5-inch inner display? Please?

Speaking of cards, the Razr+ (2024) supports dual nano-SIM or one nano-SIM and an eSIM. I have successfully used eSIM on MTN Nigeria and I have feedback from users on Airtel and 9mobile, as well. This networks are covered. Globacom is the only mobile network that is yet to adopt eSIM usage.
Other features that pique my interest include stereo speakers, IPX8 water resistance, a 50MP telephoto lens with up to 2x optical zoom. Note also that there is no 3.5mm audio jack. As with all clamshell flip phones, the fingerprint sensor is on the side. And as I have seen with the others, it is located in the upper section of the phone when opened up. Is there a reason for this? I can swear that it would be within easier reach if located in the lower half, making for a much better user experience. Having to reach up that high with the thumb to get to the fingerprint sensor sucks.
Motorola Razr+ (2024) has a 4,000mAh battery keeping the screen and other components on. I would have loved to see at least 4500mAh capacity, but we can’t have it all now; can we? Topping up the battery will be a relatively fast experience, thanks to 45W wired charging. If you are into wireless charging, it supports 15W speeds. Lastly, you can use the phone as a power bank to charge other phones and devices, but at a creepy crawly speed of 5W. I guess that’s better than nothing.
Does Motorola Razr+ (2024) have an IR blaster?
Unfortunately, it does not. There is no infrared blaster included here. And that’s a bummer.
Does Motorola Razr+ (2024) support any aptX Bluetooth codecs?
I am most excited to say that it does. The Razr+ (2024) actually supports multiple aptX codecs, including the latest one, called Snapdragon Sound. Other aptX Bluetooth codecs supported include aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless. That’s an impressive array.
Pricing and availability
The Motorola Razr+ (2024) is available in Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Peach Fuzz and Hot Pink and will sell for $999 in the United States and $1,300 in Canada.
If you live down in Latin America, expect to pay about $1,200 for it. In Europe, it will sell for €1,200 for the 12/512GB model.
Motorola has not officially sold phones in Nigeria and many other African countries, since they exited key markets about ten years ago. But independent retailers have a way of bringing these devices in. If you reside in the region, you can also order from digital marketplaces like AliExpress and others, and have it shipped to you.
It will go on sale from July. In all, I think that the Motorola Razr+ (2024), aka Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, is a solid package, a proper flagship product that gets most things right.
