TECNO TPB-P101X 10000mAh Power Bank Review

Posted by

I had no idea that TECNO had any branded power banks for sale. When one of our partners asked if we would like to review one, it came as a surprise. Of course, we took the offer. Say hello to the TECNO TPB-P101X 10000mAh power bank.

We know that Oraimo is the manufacturer of accessories under the Transsion Group, so TPB-P101X is likely a re-badged Oraimo product, or manufactured for TECNO by Oraimo.

The TECNO TPB-P101X power bank has a 10,000 mAh Lithium-Polymer battery, and delivers 10W charging. It also charges at 10W speed, if you have a compatible charger. This is an immediate plus for me. Old school, snail charging is just a pain these days. 10W isn’t particularly fast either, but it is faster than regular charging, so we will take it.

TECNO TPB-P101X 10000mAh Power Bank Review: Unboxing

The packaging is a plain box in white and blue colours. It doesn’t look special in any way. But once opened, and I caught a glimpse of the device, my eyes basically lit up. Because, it was a solid unveiling.

TECNO TPB-P101X 10mAh power bank specs and price

The power bank is a beautiful sight to see. The packaging doesn’t hint at the quality of the device. Not only does it look good, it feels solid too. The materials include aluminium front and back, held together by a solid, black plastic frame.

Other items in the box include a supplied short cable that has dual USB-B and USB-C ports at the opposite end of the USB-A connector. That means, with this cable, you can charge devices with older micro-USB ports and those with USB-C ports. No need to switch cables. I call it the one cable to rule them all.

There is also user manual pamphlet in the box, and that’s it. Pretty much standard fare for power banks.

TECNO TPB-P101X 10000mAh Power Bank Review: First impressions

As already mentioned, despite the plain box, once we opened it up, the TPB-P101X quickly impressed. What it lacked in packaging, it possessed in appearance and feel. This TECNO power bank is all shades of drip. It has clean lines and has an aluminium build. And it feels solid in the hand. Here are a few close-up shots for your enjoyment.

TECNO TPB-P101X 10000mAh Power Bank Review: In use

I haven’t put the TPB-P101X to much use yet, as there has been no need to. But I have charged it to full capacity and used it for a few odd short charging sessions. So it is not appropriate for me to give verdicts on its performance at this time.

When I have put it to more varied use, I will have detailed conclusions to give about the device. For now, first impressions are good, and I hope that the experience matches the beautiful and solid build. Check back for my update and conclusions.

How much is the TECNO TPB-P101X 10000mAh power bank, and where can you buy it from? It sells for ₦8,500 only and is available from TECNO stores, as well as independent retailers and online stores. There are lots of alternative power banks in the market, including models from Oraimo, Anker, and others.

Check out alternatives like the Anker PowerCore 10000 PD+ power bank, Anker PowerCore II Slim 10,000 mAh high capacity power bank, and Oraimo Toast 10000mAh power bank, among others.
