Nigerian Internet subscribers are constantly looking for affordable and reliable unlimited data plans. Airtel has introduced a new set of unlimited data bundles that are not available on smartphones but on routers. The Airtel Unlimited 20 data plan is one of those plans.

As a matter of fact, if you are looking for the most affordable unlimited data plan from any of the mobile operators, the Unlimited 20 plan is it. Note that the “20” in the name does not refer to a data cap but to a speed cap. You get unlimited data at 20Mbps speed limit for 30 days, at the cost of ₦20,000. That sounds interesting; right? Let’s get into more details.

Airtel Unlimited 20 data plan is a good deal; here are the details 1
You need to get one of Airtel’s routers to get access to the Unlimited 20 plan.

How Airtel Unlimited 20 data plan works

  • It is a part of Airtel’s Internet service via routers, and so the plan is not available to any mobile phones.
  • Only subscribers who have an Airtel router can subscribe to this plan.
  • As such, you need to buy a separate Airtel line for use for this.
  • It costs ₦20,000 (20000 naira) monthly.
  • You get unlimited data on the Airtel Nigeria network at a maximum speed of 20Mbps for 30 days of validity
  • There is no fair usage policy (FUP) threshold or data cap.
  • It works on both 4G and 5G networks.

How to subscribe

You need to get one of Airtel’s available routers – the 5G Smartbox, the 4G PocketWifi, or one of the 4G Smartboxes.

Get Airtel Unlimited 20 for 20000 naira with the 5G Smartbox

A connection fee of ₦50,000 gets you the 5G Smartbox and a free 30-day subscription to the Airtel Unlimited 20 plan. After your first 30 days is up, simply renew with ₦20,000 monthly thereafter.

Because this is a 5G router, it will work in areas with Airtel 5G coverage. Not that you will get 5G speeds, though, as the Unlimited 20 plan is capped to a maximum speed of 20Mbps. But 20Mbps is pretty good for most people’s usage needs.

Get Airtel Unlimited 20 for 20000 naira with the 4G PocketWifi

By default, for just ₦10,000, Airtel’s 4G PocketWifi gets you free 30GB data and 100% bonus on purchase of any data plans between ₦5,000 and ₦15,000 for the first 6 months. But that isn’t what you want; right? You want the Unlimited 20 plan. So you have to specify at the point of purchase and activation so they can switch you to the unlimited plan. You will give up the default benefits and have to pay your ₦20,000 monthly subscription.

Get Airtel Unlimited 20 for 20000 naira with a 4G Smartbox

Airtel has two types of 4G Smartboxes. One costs ₦15,000 and gives you free 30GB data and 100% bonus on purchase of any data plans between ₦5,000 and ₦15,000 for the first 6 months, like the PocketWifi listed above does. Again, you have to request that you want the Unlimited 20 plan and have them switch you to it.

The second type of 4G Smartbox costs ₦25,000 and gives you free unlimited bundle upon activation and 100% bonus on purchase of any data plans between ₦5,000 and ₦15,000 for the first 6 months. When you are done with the first month free data, simply renew with the Airtel Unlimited 20 option and you are good to go.

Airtel Unlimited 20 plan is a juicy offer and one of the best data deals you will find from a mobile network operator in Nigeria today. Many unlimited home internet plans start around ₦10,000 to ₦15,000 and give you a maximum of 10Mbps speed. Airtel is priced above them but also gets you twice the speed cap, which is something.

One of the limitations of those unlimited home services is coverage. If you are resident outside major city areas in Lagos and Abuja, for example, and you want unlimited Internet, the Airtel Unlimited 20 is what you should be looking at. We haven’t seen any other mobile operator offer a truly unlimited data plan like this.
