A Smartphone Gift Will Be A Delightful Thing

Yesterday, I came across a question that got my processor grinding to sift through my extensive memory archives to try to recall if I have ever been a recipient of a smartphone gift from someone in my circle. Here is the question:

Adults, what is something you’d love receiving as a gift but no one even considers giving you because you’re an adult?

My gears went grinding because I needed to be sure. Though I have owned hundreds of mobile phones since my first one in 2001, I do not recall anyone ever giving me a smartphone as a gift since then.

I get shoes, bags, clothes, perfumes, and all sorts of fashion accessories, but a smartphone gift is something I do not recall ever receiving from an individual.

Brands don’t count, of course, in this context. I’ve gotten scores of phone gifts from brands. The question is about gifts from individuals. Also, the question is premised on being an adult, but I do not think my case is just because of adulthood. It is because of my identity.

Being Mister Mobility has its drawbacks. People expect to get a phone gifts from me. I doubt that the idea of a phone as a gift to me would pop up in the minds of most. And understandably so. I’m the phone guy, after all.

Mister Mobility is almost always being seen with the latest phones and changing them across the span of months. Those are phones from work and for work. It will never feel the same as a smartphone that is given to me by someone who thoughtfully and lovingly picks one out for me as a gift.

So, yes, I will love to get a smartphone gift one day. I’m only 51 now, so I reckon I’ve got many years ahead of me for that to still happen; right?

PS: So, there is a chance that someone has gifted me a phone sometime in the years gone by and my memory is playing tricks on me. Human memory can be tricky. Just leave a comment to correct me and you will have my full apology. The aim is not to be ungrateful. The subject is merely intriguing.

That question simply triggered a desire that I’ve always had deep down in there somewhere, and my answer is that I would love to get a smartphone gift – even if I have received one before. After all, if you love flowers or wrist watches, you don’t stop appreciating them as gifts simply because someone gifted you some in the past, do you? Aha!

That said, let’s talk about you and gifting phones. Have you ever given or received a smartphone gift? As we speak of giving and receiving, don’t forget to put a smile on the face of someone in your life this period, where it is within your power to. The end of year season is a great time to share.

If you have someone around you who needs a smartphone and you can afford one, do gift one out this season. Pretty much all the phone brands have released all the models that they have for 2024, so you will be spoilt for choice.
