TECNO Camon 16 Premier Review RoundUp: What Reviewers Say

Finding a detailed review of the Camon 16 Premier is no easy feat. First, there were all manner of pretend reviews – compilations of specs and features by individuals who have never spent 5 minutes with the phone in question. A proper review by people who spent good time using the device in detail and then sharing their experience with it was what we were looking for.

TECNO Camon 16 Premier Review by TechWeez

TechWeez says that the Camon 16 Premier is “perhaps TECNO’s best attempt at crafting a smartphone we have seen so far.” They are impressed with the 6.9” screen with 90 Hz refresh rate, huge battery that fills up fast, and great overall build quality.

What were the not so nice things that TechWeez had to say about the Camon 16 Premier? They say it is a bulky device, is let down by software that serves you ads, and a bad speaker.

In conclusion, the TechWeez review says, “Overall, the Camon 16 Premier delivers on three major things; the screen is terrific, the camera does more than enough, and the battery and charging speeds are excellent. However, making a generally good phone, especially for KES 30K is not an easy task. TECNO has tried this time around, although it has a big room to iron out some things with the Camon 16 Premier.”

TECNO Camon 16 Premier Review by GSM Arena

The guys at GSM Arena say that the Camon 16 Premier manages to “deliver a surprisingly-good value proposition and a distinct software experience, specifically tailored to the needs of local markets”.

They had praise for its “sturdy plastic build and eye-catching, yet restrained design and color options”, snappy fingerprint reader, optimal performance, excellent battery life even in 90Hz mode, impressively fast charging, great night mode and 64MP camera capture, impressive selfies from the front camera, and solid EIS stabilization in video recording mode.

Any complaints? Yes. These include the display’s slow-pixel response time, unimpressive loudspeaker, and tons of bloatware. They also say the camera performance is “largely unimpressive”.

They did complain about the “unusually high volume of ads and sponsored content, pre-loaded as part of HiOS 7” and found it “hard to really outright recommend it” from a global perspective because “the way the Camon 16 Premier is created, customized, and even marketed appears pretty specific” to the markets it is sold in.

They do state that “the Camon 16 Premier is a whole lot of phone, at a very tempting price”.

TECNO Camon 16 Premier Review RoundUp: Wrap Up

TechWeez and GSM Arena are the only detailed reviews of the Camon 16 Premier that we found on the Web. We see they are largely agreed about a number of things, including: the sturdy build, super-fast battery charging, and annoyance from bloatware and ads.

While TechWeez says the camera “does more than enough”, GSM Arena thinks that while it shines in a few areas, photography on the Camon 16 Premier leaves a lot to be desired. While TechWeez also thinks the display is terrific, GSM Arena has a more measured view of it, pointing out how it falls short in a number of ways. It is over to you to make of these disagreements between the two reviews what you will.

And that is it on our TECNO Camon 16 Premier review roundup. We hope you find it helpful in exploring this interesting smartphone from TECNO Mobile. It is available in stores across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, India, and related countries. You will find it on online stores like Jumia, Slot, Konga, Flipkart, and others.
