Three times in the last one week, I have been asked by three different individuals to recommend a best phone under 120000 naira.
On all three occasions, my answer was the same: Redmi Note 9 Pro. What about this phone makes it stand out so much that I would recommend it above all the Samsung smartphones and others in the market?

Afterall, there are a number of devices that cost ₦120,000 and below, and they have some interesting specs. These include:
Samsung Galaxy A32 6/128GB, which costs ₦114,000, Vivo Y51 8/128GB, which sells for ₦110,000, and OPPO A92 8/128GB, which sells for ₦110,000.
How exactly does the Redmi stand above these, especially as it costs more than each of them?

Why Redmi Note 9 Pro is the best phone under 120000 naira
The Redmi Note 9 Pro has 2 variants available in the country – 4GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB. The first figure before the slash stands for the RAM, while the second is the internal storage.
Apart from the RAM and internal storage differences, everything else is the same on both variants.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor and has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Battery capacity is 5020mAh and there is 30W fast charging for filling up the battery in about one hour.
The fingerprint reader is on the side, and there is a 16MP front camera, as well as a 64MP quad camera at the back.
While the frame of the Redmi Note 9 Pro is plastic, the back panel is made of glass. This means the phone is fragile. If you are prone to dropping your phones, you should buy a protective case for it.
The Redmi trumps its competitors because it has a more powerful processor, beefier battery, and faster charging speed. The Galaxy S21 has a few neat tricks that you might want to consider though.
Samsung A32 is a dust and waterproof phone, and it has a 90Hz refresh rate display as well. Those are solid credentials for a phone in this price range, and it puts the Samsung in a very unique place. But in terms of everything else, it falls behind the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
The others just line up behind the Redmi and the Galaxy. They are good phones too, but they don’t pack as much value as these two.
Overall, in terms of raw power and the total package, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is my choice for the best phone under 120000 in Nigeria. If you must have water and dust proofing or a high refresh rate display, the Samsung Galaxy A32 is yours for the taking.
The variant of the Redmi Note 9 Pro that is widely available is the 6/128GB trim and it costs exactly ₦120,000. If you do not need that much storage, you might find the 6/64GB variant for about ₦115,000. And that is an even more pocket-friendly deal.
If you were looking for the best phone under 120000, which would you pick? Would the Redmi be your choice?
