List of itel phones with Spreadtrum chipset

In the world of mobile phone processors, the big names are well-known. The names include: Qualcomm, MediaTek, EXYNOS (Samsung), Kirin (Huawei), and Bionic (Apple). But there is a lesser known chipmaker that is fast-rising and powering more smartphones by the day: Unisoc (formerly known as Spreadtrum).

Unisoc started out in 2001 as a Chinese subsidiary company known as Spreadtrum. In 2018, a rebranding happened, and it became known as Unisoc. This manufacturer makes budget chipsets that power 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G devices from smartphones to smart TVs.

You may not hear of Unisoc a lot, but their chipsets have been used by some big names in the mobile phone industry, including: Samsung, Lenovo, and Nokia. Yes; you read that right. Even Samsung has used Unisoc chips. Other mobile phone brands that use Unisoc chips are: Alcatel, Energizer, CAT, Lenovo, BLU, HTC, Lava, Hisense, and itel.

In the last few years, one phone maker that has used Unisoc chipsets quite a lot is itel Mobile, the entry-level phone maker under the Transsion Group umbrella. itel targets the entry-level smartphone market exclusively, and Unisoc’s cheap chipsets have made it possible to keep their costs low.

In China, Unisoc’s home country, Cherry Mobile is perhaps the largest user of Unico/Spreadtrum chips. Outside China, itel Mobile is probably the largest users of Unisoc chips. While itel Mobile is Chinese in origin, its products are sold outside of China, in African and Asian markets.

Below is a list of itel phones that are powered by Unisoc processors.

Chips are integral to the functioning of hardware digital products – from feature phones, smartphones, wearables, tablets, and smart TVs. Unisoc makes chipsets that are more pocket-friendlier than even those from Mediatek, a chipmaker that is known for affordable products. This makes Unisoc a more attractive option for manufacturers looking to produce extremely affordable devices.

We will definitely see more itel phones with Spreadtrum (Unisoc) chipsets released into the market in the months and years ahead. And, we just might see more phone brands use Unisoc chips more often.
