Over the years, we have nurtured a sense of community here at Mobility Naija through hangout events and dance events. We are continuing in that tradition of going beyond just being an online community to meeting up in real life to share in joy, laughter, and dance.
For example, it still feels like just yesterday when we held Mobility Rave, our biggest event ever. Yet, that was way back in 2014 – a whole 10 years ago. Participants danced and sang and had so much fun! This time, we are embracing silent disco.
If you are new to the concept of silent disco, it is an event where people dance to music using wireless headphones instead of traditional speakers. When you arrive, you will be given a pair of fully charged party headphones to wear throughout the evening.
The environment or room remains relatively silent (relatively because you will find that participants often sing out loud to whatever they are dancing to), creating the surreal effect of a crowd dancing to nothing. What’s unique is that everyone can listen to their own music – each headphone is able to switch between three different music channels played by three different DJs, giving you full control over what you listen and dance to.
At the event, you get to join Mister Mobility and other Mobilistas at a table or section and enjoy mix, mingle, take group photos, and have an evening of fun together.
It is usually a Saturday evening affair – from 7pm till the last person leaves. For now, we are limiting our silent disco events to Lagos, but there are no limits to what tomorrow may bring. So, if you are not currently based in Lagos, don’t feel too bad; we have you in mind too.
We will get you tickets at discounted rates; all you have to do is show up dressed up and ready to sing and dance and pay for your own chops and drinks.
