Google Pixel 5 in Nigeria

Posted by

The Google Pixel 5 is the latest addition to the pixel family that has been in circulation since 2013. This phone right here is what you call next level, but then, what do we expect from Google? Nothing but top class products.

Google Pixel 5

This well crafted device has so many intriguing features that keep you on edge and just all round glad that you got the phone in the first place. From the pictures to the processors to the security features and everything incorporated into the Google Pixel 5.

Let’s take a quick look at the specs of one of the top 10 best phones on the planet right now.

Operating system

  • Android 11

Processor

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G

When I saw the processor on the phone I was not even surprised. Snapdragon 750G was just released in September, but here we are with the 765G on the Google Pixel 5. As we have come to expect, Google does not disappoint when it comes to taking phones to the next level.

The best part for me -because I am a gamer- is that it’s such a fast and efficient processor. I’m sure some of you know how good the 750G is. Juts imagine what 765G is going to be like.

CPU

  • Octa-core (1×2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1×2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver)

GPU

  • Adreno 620

It is not the best GPU, but I can assure you that you won’t lack anything when it comes to your graphics. In fact, I am looking forward to playing CODM on this, my only problem is that it’s quite small for a gaming phone.

Size

  • 144.7 x 70.4 x 8 mm

Here is where I am a little dissapointed because I love large, sleek phones. The Google Pixel 5 is just 6’0 in height. That’s pretty small if you ask me. Hopefully they drastically increase the height with the next phone.

Mass

  • 151 g

Battery

  • 4080 mAh
  • Wireless charging
  • 18W fast charging

The battery performance is exceptional, with wireless fast charging to get you back to whatever activity you might have been doing. The Google Pixel 5 also has an extreme battery saving feature that makes the battery last up to 48 hours. Now that’s something I look forward to having. Imagine going 2 days without charging your phone.

Memory

  • 8 GB RAM LPDDR4X

Storage

  • 128 GB

As is expected of any top phone, the Google Pixel 5 has a standard memory as well as storage. Although, I expected something around a  12GB memory with at least 256 GB storage, this is pretty standard and manageable.

The Google Pixel 5 does come with the Google One feature that is free for three months. It gives you 100GB of cloud space. So I guess the 128 GB storage can be overlooked.

Display

  • 6.0″ OLED, 2340×1080 {19.5:9} pixel resolution; the display uses Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The device has a wonderful display, one I am very impressed with. It is also IP68 water and dust resistant, which I am honestly impressed with.

Rear Camera

  • 12 MP dual-pixel & 16 MP ultrawide
  • 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps; gyro-EIS

Front camera

  • 8 MP, f/2.0, 24mm (wide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
  • Auto-HDR
  • 1080p@30fps

The cameras of Google pixel phone series need no introduction. They have established themselves as some of the best camera phone’s on the planet, and the Google Pixel 5 is no exception. With outstanding detailed images with different features and settings for taking mind-blowing pictures in any situation, it is easily my favourite camera phone.

It has beautiful low-light portraits, night sight that lets you capture pictures at night without flash, Ultrawide lens that lets you take amazing pictures of beautiful landscapes with impressive detail, among other satisfying features.

When it comes to pictures, be it normal or selfie, don’t sleep on this phone.

Connectivity

  • 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • GPS: A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, BDS
  • NFC
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot

Sensors

  • Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer

The Google Pixel 5 also has some amazing features that I was even shocked about. The phone is able to sense when you’ve been in an accident and calls 911 for you. The Pixel scans for incoming threats from calls, texts, emails, and links sent from other apps. It also scans over 100 billion apps a day to keep your phone safe.

Those are just some of the many brilliant features incorporated into this masterfully crafted device.

The Google Pixel 5 is currently not available here in Nigeria, but it will be in the coming months and should cost about N260,000.
