There was a time I told myself that I would never use a TECNO phone again, but I think the TECNO CAMON 16 Premier making me rethink that and it would probably make you do the same. How TECNO pulled this crazy piece off is still a wonder to me, because they really stepped up.

It was announced on the 4 September, 2020 and released on the same day.

  • Dimensions: 170.6 x 77.2 x 9.1 mm
  • Mass: 203 g

One of the reasons why I love the phone is the size. If you know me, then you know I’m a big fan of large slick phones. 9.1 mm is a little thick but it can be excused. The phone is also a bit heavy but that is nothing that would be a bother to one when in the hand.

  • System on chip: Mediatek MT6785 Helio G90T (12 nm)
  • CPU: Octa-core (2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55)
  • GPU: Mali-G76 MC4

The TECNO CAMON 16 Premier has a pretty standard chipset, with an efficient CPU and and GPU. Graphics and processing on this phone will be splendid, that much I can tell. It is not by any means the highest or the best, but it is satisfying.

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage:128 GB

The 8 GB RAM is it for me, you have to commend TECNO for that. I was expecting it to have the usual 6 GB but they took it a step further, while giving it a standard storage space for a phone of that caliber.

  • Battery: 4,500 mAh(typ)
  • 33W Flash Charge

Having a phone that charges from 0-70% in 30 minutes is mind blowing for a phone that isn’t high end, and it lasts up to a day too when at full charge. That is a big win right there. We all want to get our phones to hundred as fast as possible so that we can get back to our activities( casual or important).

  • Operating System: Android 10, HIOS 6.0

TECNO implemented the penultimate version of the Android OS, which is expected. Android 11 would have been fantastic though, but you can’t have it all, as they say.

  • Display: 1080 x 2460 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio
  • 90 hz refresh rate

The TECNO CAMON 16 Premier has a nice display, and my favourite aspect is the 90 Hz refresh rate that they gave us. It makes experiencing the phone so much better.

  • Rear Camera: 64 MP, f/1.9, 26mm (wide), 1/1.73″, 0.8µm, PDAF
    8 MP, f/2.3, 119˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
2 MP, f/2.4, (dedicated video camera)
    2 MP, f/2.4, (depth)
  • Penta-LED flash, panorama, HDR
  • 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps, 720p@960fps, gyro-EIS

  • Front Camera: 48 MP, f/2.2, 23mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm
    8 MP, f/2.2, 105˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm
  • Dual-LED flash, HDR
  • 1080p@30fps

Now this is where the juicy part of the whole story is. TECNO were not playing around with this phone when it comes to the camera. As a matter of fact, the overview advert of the phone, on their page, is literally full of details of what the camera does, LMAO. But one must commend them for their work, the cameras are excellent quality. Lovely, detailed, well lit photos that one can use to capture amazing moments.

It has lots of features to take care of different situations to give one the best experience that one can get out of a camera phone. Hats off to them on this one. Other specs of TECNO Camon 16 Premier include:

  • Sensors: G- sensor
  • Proximity sensor
