In September 2020, HMD Global announced the Nokia 3.4, alongside a couple of other smartphones. The 3.4 is a mid-range smartphone and successor to the Nokia 3.2. HMD Global skipped the 3.3 numbering.
What do we get with the Nokia 3.4? A 6.39-inch display with a 720p resolution. In terms of software, it runs Android 10, and it is expected to be updated to Android 11. Not many smartphones at this price point get software updates, so that is a strong point. Like all Nokia Android smartphones, the Nokia 3.4 is a part of the Android One programme and so uses a stock version of Android OS.
In a top corner of the display is a punch hole housing an 8MP camera for selfies and video meetings. At the back of the phone is a 13MP triple camera, LED flash, and fingerprint scanner. The back has what HMD Global calls a “nano texture”, and the phone is available in 3 colours – Fjord (Blue), Dusk, and Charcoal.
Battery life should be good on this model, considering it has a 4000mAh battery. Charging technology is 10W, which is slightly faster than standard charging. But Nokia does not include a 10W charger in the box; you have to buy one separately if you do not already own one.
Nokia 3.4 has two variants: one with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and the other with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Traditionally, HMD Global sells the lower variants of their phones in Nigeria. We are happy to report that this is not the case this time. The 4/64GB variant is available in retail stores nationwide, as well as on online stores like Jumia, Konga, and others. Price? ₦65,000.
