Back in mid-2018, Facebook’s official statement was that there were 26 million Facebook users in Nigeria. This gives about 27% increase year-on-year.
On the African continent, Facebook had about 139 million users in 2018, and 98% of them were on mobile.

In September 2020, Facebook announced that they will be opening an office in Lagos, Nigeria. It will be their second office in Africa. The first one is located in South Africa.
The Lagos office is expected to come on stream by the second half of 2021.
