Lagos, Nigeria; August 1, 2011: Leading Telecommunications Services provider, Airtel Nigeria has extended its Big Family Offer to postpaid customers and high-network individuals as it moves to empower more Nigerians to access innovative telecoms solutions at very affordable rates.

The company says the extension of the Big Family Tariff Offering to postpaid users is an indication of its commitments to drive affordability and innovation across all the customer segments it serves.

Under the new tariff plan, postpaid customers on the Airtel Network will be able to make on-net calls at discounted rate of 15k per seconds and off-net calls at 30k/sec after paying 60k for the first 30 minutes of the month.

These Airtel customers will also enjoy the benefits of calling international destinations such as UK (landlines), USA, Canada, China and India at 20K/sec after paying 60K/sec for the first 30mins of the month to same destinations.

Additional benefits of the new plan include 20 bonus SMS (Short Message Service) monthly. The free SMS applies to numbers within Airtel network. Another added value of the new tariff offer is attractive SMS rates. The wallet friendly SMS tariff plan includes N5 for Airtel to Airtel SMS, N10 for SMS to other networks and N15 for SMS to international locations.

Speaking on the new offer, the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Airtel Nigeria, Deepak Srivastava, said the extension of the offer to postpaid customers is further demonstration of the company’s determination to give Nigerians more tangible true value and empower more people across the country to freely communicate as a big family.

He added that the new service is in line with Airtel’s well articulated plan to deliver innovative, affordable, relevant, and most value based telecom solutions in the country.

Srivastava said: “With the extension of the Airtel Big Family package, we have given our customers the benefits of communicating freely with all their family, relations and friends who are on Airtel, at affordable rates.”

Existing postpaid customers who wish to connect to the package are expected to call 131 while new customers will need to have their lines provisioned at Airtel customer contact points across the country.

GSM operator, Etisalat, seems to be on a roll. This time, they have put out into the market a post-paid product, Elite World.

Elite World offers the following benefits:

• one simple tariff
• the choice of one out of four minimum monthly payments (MMP) – N2,500; N5,000; N10,000; and N20,000
• added rewards on voice and data
• blackberry services
• international roaming (180 countries; 500 operators)

Added Rewards

Subscribers on the N2,500 MMP plan get N250 voice airtime and 20mb data free.

Subscribers on the N5,000 MMP plan get N750 voice airtime and 50mb data free.

Subscribers on the N10,000 MMP plan get N2,000 voice airtime and 150mb data free.

Subscribers on the N20,000 MMP plan get N5,000 voice airtime, 300mb data and USB modem free.
