At the ongoing Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Nokia just announced the Lumia 610. This one is aimed at budget users. The specs are listed below:
- Display: A 3.7 in. LCD capacitive touchscreen with screen resolution of 480×800 px at 252 ppi.
- Battery: 1300mAh
- Cpu: 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227A
- Memory:8 GB internal flash, 256 MB ROM, 256 MB RAM.
- Camera: 5 Megapixel 2592×1944 pixels
- OS: Windows Phone Tango.
It comes with the latest iteration of Windows Phone named Tango, a major move by Nokia and Microsoft to penetrate the mid tier sector, providing a viable option to users who want to buy a smartphone but do not have enough money to buy a Lumia 900.

read about this and just wondering if its Bluetooth is going to be allowed to connect with other devices and not like its other WP7 devices. That will really go a long way in helping it sell in its segment market.

If it doesnt have bluetooth file transfer, nokia should 4get it. But the phone seem to have good looks. Am sure intendin buyers will just buy it at a shop expecting all d standard nokia funtionality and get home disappointed!

I still do not sincerely know who to blame for the lack of Bluetooth, Nokia or Microsoft?. At the kind of market that they are aiming for with this phone, Bluetooth is an absolute must have.

Beware of Nokia’s cheap smartphones with their inadequate RAM size. You would end up running only a few apps simultameously and praying fervently that your apps do not keep restarting. Ask nokia 5230 and 5800 users

Sad. My most compelling feature on a Nokia phone has had to be Bluetooth file transfer and Mass storage mode on PC. It is disheartening that Windows phone are jettisoning these very features that make Nokia stand out!
I’m now having double mind on getting a Lumia. Initially, Lumia was in my blood and I would’ve gone on hunger strike just to own one. Now? I’m just cold, when I wanted Lumia so badly, it wasn’t even available officially in Nigeria. And I was not ready to buy it at an outrageous price with no official support from Nokia.

For someone who has been using iOS devices for some my months or even years now, I would have believed that living without those features wouldn’t be a problem. This appears to support my initial thinking that WP7 will find it very difficult winning new following. iOS users adore Apple and whatever Apple shoves their way, Symbian and Android users love their freedom and BB users cannot be separated from their pinging and the most are in love with the physical keyboard on the majority of BB devices.

Afewgoodmen loves iOS and has lived with tese limitations for years. He adores Steve Jobs and can endure anything Apple. He also has a nokia E6 running belle and would not want anything less than belle from nokia. Double standards? Maybe,but i seem to agree with him and others on the issue of bluetooth and mass storage.
If nokia aims its cheap WP at the nigerian market, they better add these two features or it would be a disaster for them. They will end up selling more Asha phones than Windows Phone.

I believe nokia must have cut some corners before they can give the Lumia 610 for such a price. Most often when manufacturers bring us budget phones, a lot of good things are usually left out. What are the things left out by nokia this time? Pinch to zoom will definitely be one of them. Don’t expect flash on the camera too……

Harry, True, I can do without bluetooth transfer. It is not a compelling feature for me. @Deoladoctor hit the nail on the head.
However, I find that iOS is much more robust than Belle. For any particular task, I do it much better on iOS compared to belle. And that is what using a smartphone is all about. Productivity. if i am more productive on iOS because of its sleek UI, UX and intuitiveness, then that is where I would run to.
That said, Belle is a fresh breath compared with Symbian series 60. The thing I hated most on series 6o was the insufficient memory issue. With my protracted use of Belle I have never one day come up with an insufficient memory problem. I think that’s truly great. Belle seems to be more robust and intuitive comparing with its older brother.
I want to try WP to satisfy my Geek nature. But it would be sad to jump from one nokia platform to another with deliberately crippled features.
