As an upcoming e-entrepreneur and a mobile technology ethusiast, emails are very important to me meaning I have to access my mailbox often but having to go online every one and then to check multiple email accounts was not not exactly funny. I tried using the default email client on my Nokia E61 but that did not deliver true push email. I considered getting a BlackBerry but that did not fit into my budget at that time, so that led me to search for a push email client that could deliver true push email to me. After searching and trying several others, I found Seven.
Seven is a free push email client that delivers push email to your mobile device. It cuts across platforms, including but not limited to Symbian, Java, Android, and Windows Mobile. In addition, it integrates very well with the default email client of mobile devices on which it is supported.
With Seven, you can access multiple email accounts from the same providers and accounts based on Microsoft Exchange Server and IBM Lotus Notes. It also enables you to sync your folders, calendars and contacts.
The key thing for me about Seven is it’s simplicity and efficiency and even though it’s free, it’s not lacking in feautures. All you need is your user name and password and you are up and running in a couple of minutes. However, a note of caution: when adding email accounts, be sure to alter your message center number as the application sends a message to an international number.
If you are concerned about security, Seven uses high end-to-end encyption so only you can read your message. And so that emails don’t interupt your private life, it’s also possible for you to determine the periods during which Seven pushes emails to you. It is also possible to pause it altogether.
Seven requires an always-on internet connection but the good thing is that it’s not bandwidth hungry.
I have being using Seven for seven months now and I have had no complaints. I would gladly recommend it to any smartphone user who desires true push email functionality as an alternative to BlackBerry.
With Seven who needs a BlackBerry? With proper marketing and publicity, Seven can stand eyeball to eyeball with BlackBerry’s push mail. Your comments and questions are welcome.

Kay 123, I agee with you. I rather prefer Emoze myself. The latest incarnation of Seven, however integrates IM as well, possibly giving it an edge.
Applications such as Seven and Emoze have always been my recommendation to the BlackBerry crowd. But then, they hardly ever listen!

To be quite candid, having used Seven, Emoze, Nokia messaging app for personal emails and Mail for Exchange for Outlook mail (all on S60 device), all these email clients are very functional. However, not until I subscribe to BIS that I understood the difference this can make in email mobility. The BB device can be crappy in some aspect, but when it comes to messaging, it comes atop!!!

Please note that seven sends an international sms per account added so kindly disable your message center number when adding email account. You can enable it once you are done adding accounts.

Unfortunately, I can not quite recall what informed my decision then. But I got away with the impression that Seven is not the wayy to go..

For me, nothing really stood out about the BB’s email, now don’t me wrong I’m not saying BB’s Push Email is not up to standard but the other products I mentioned did the job I asked of with different levels of efficiency.
Seven and BB was like a duplication of functions. So I chose Seven.

I have used system seven and quite a number of other clients over the years using data services from glo, MTN and Etisalat, let’s not kid ourselves, even as i hate to admit it, nothing compares to even the substandard blackberry services being offered in Nigeria.

I have also used BIS for my push emails for a while, after comparing it with seven and others, it was simply duplication of functions. So I settled for seven. Case of different strokes for different folks.

You did not address my question.
How do you detect the comparative data consumption of Seven vs Emoze? Or the data bandwidth consumption of any application (for that matter) on your phone?

As at the last time i checked Emoze allowed me to only use 1 email for free.
With System Seven i was able to use all my 6emails.

However I used Seven and Emoze for the same number of account on two different phones simultaneously for a couple of days, the rough ratio of bandwidth consumption was 1:3, that’s by no mean scientific but it told me all I needed to know.

Thanks for the link. But pity the app did not work on my GW300. It installed and tried to open but could not go beyond the acceptance of terms of use (UELA).

The eternal battle of “comparative personal preferences” is so at play here…Seven vs. Emoze vs. BB Mail client vs the rest. Whatever push mail client one needs boils down to what you’ll want out of it. Personally I’d pick the BB client which I currently use (an avowed BB hater using BB-the thing tire me sef) cos of its ‘functionality’. I’ve tried Emoze, Seven, Nokia Messaging app (which is cool), mail for Exchange for Microsoft outlook mail etc., however none at present gives me close to what I get on the BB (4,750 wey Zain dey charge me no easy, but i get enough bandwidth to play with as I’m using my BB as modem).
Bottomline, its not about which is better, rather is about what works best for an individual.
My 2 cents (sorry, I mean kobo)!

My only problem with SYSTEM SEVEN is its exclusive use of your phone memory for email. With my 5800 phone memory down to 12mb, i need to conserve as much as possible. Sadly, i might have to delete this lovely app and use MOBILE DOCUMENT APP for my push email instead.
