The Mobility Nigeria team was present at mobiFEST 2010 held earlier today at Afe Babalola Auditorium at the University of Lagos.
We got a hands-on of Encipher’s upcoming Android-based tablet. Though a pre-production model, I loved the feel of the device and found web browsing up to par. We are looking forward to Encipher letting us have a go at the final release.
We also had a good feel of a production Samsung i9000 Galaxy smartphone – and what a device it is! From the gorgeous screen to the fluid interface, the Galaxy wowed both Dayo Olutunfese and myself. Unfortunately, without a QWERTY keyboard, it isn’t my type of device. Still, we are looking forward to reviewing the Galaxy here.
We were not allowed to take any pictures of the device, but the Samsung representative confirmed that the Galaxy will be available in stores across Lagos within the next two (2) weeks.
As for the event proper, I was part of the panel that addressed mobile devices and value added services. In addition, the Mobility Nigeria desk at the event was dedicated to promoting our ongoing WIN-a-smartphone promo.

So impressed. Imagine having having the opportunity to have hands-on prototypes and finished popular devices at the event.GOD! Well,too bad distance will not allow our presence there, but so glad our 3rd eye Yomi is there big time.So i said to him “have fun and give us the story later……Wishing you the best”

Am impressed with the Encipher’s upcoming Android-based tablet but I wont mind to pay more if they have another flavour with 1ghz processor and update to higher Android version 2.2 and above.
Samsung Galaxy S is a wonderful Android device. It won best European Smartphone 2010. There is also a CDMA version with full QWERTY know as the Epic 4G (if only Starcomms could come to our rescue). My only fear is that, I hope Samy will support it with updates because Android is a ever changing platform and it will be painful not to have the latest OS.
I look forward to see Samsung Galaxy S as much as I look forward to see Nokia N8 and iPhone4 in mainstream Nigeria Market.

I find the news of the Galaxy S very interesting. It is high time someone compete with Nokia on the high end smart phone marget in Nigeria. I find the virtual non existance of Android smart phone in Nigeria very sad despite strong presence of Samsung and LG and even HTC. In that regards this is a welcome news
