You have to give it to the guys over at Nokia Conversations. They have a tongue-in-cheek article in which they go into details about how you are free to hold your Nokia phones in a variety of ways without impacting signal reception.
By now, you know what iDevice the jab is at. And it is a pretty good one too. An excerpt:
The key function on any Nokia device is its ability to make phone calls. After all, that’s why we know them universally as mobile phones (or smart phones, feature phones or mobile computers – though the same grip styles work for those, too). One of the main things we’ve found about the 1 billion plus Nokia devices that are in use today is that when making a phone call, people generally tend to hold their phone like a…. well, like a phone. Providing a wide range of methods and grips for people to hold their phones, without interfering with the antennae, has been an essential feature of every device Nokia has built.

One thing you will give to Steve Jobs / Apple is that he seems to have the spellbinder’s touch.
Imagine producing a phone with call quality issues and reported display problems on some units. And yet, multitude of people still over-extend themselves to grab themselves one.
Similar to the way people just accepted the intermittent inexplicable crashes – UAE (Unrecoverable Application Error) in PC Windows 3.11 OS -back then – without a whimper!
You probably can fool all of the people some of the time – and get away with it. That is, if you are Steve jobs!

Following what my poor Nokia has gone through (fell in a water filled ditch and worked, fell countless times from a height of over 1 meter on to tiled floor and still works and has been through countless other stress) I am sure if you swallowed a Nokia phone, it’ll still have full bars down there!

In my opinion Nokia has little to no presence in north America because of but not limited to the points below
1.Most Nokia phones are sold unlocked and not tied to any operators like AT&T iPhone.
2.Nokia sometimes uses price for maintaining market share by producing cheap phones.
3.The Apple iphone OS and Android has been accepted there has more intuitive UIs even though RIM is still number 1 in US.

The worst part of the iPhone reception debacle is how Apple is handling it. Rather than admit the flaw and fix it, Apple has officially instructed reps to dumb down the issue.

Like a commenter there said, for a company that makes so much in a matter of weeks, that’s bad. If Apple decided to re-call those units and fix them, Apple fans would still line-up to pick up their fixed units. They enjoy that kind of loyalty. But obviously, that loyalty is one-way.

All I can say is; Go, Nokia Go! Just rub it in for Apple. At least Nokia phones don’t have such reception issues. Even the peevious version of the iphone don’t!
I just hope the Nokia N8 would be sweet with an improved UI.

1.7 million iphone 4s sold in just 3 days. A record for any phone company in the world! Despite all these myriads of problems, the iphone is still selling in droves. The truth is that if you wish to buy a device, and knowing well that nothing in this world is perfect, you can let go of some impurities for your stellar UI and other features that you love in your dream phone. Steve Jobs just announced that the problem is a software issue. ios 4.01 is reported to be released this week to take care of the reception issue.
My call to Nokia; instead of teasing Apple with your posters on your website., Why don’t you release a device, the N8 if possible that would sell at least 2 million units in 3 days! That would rival the iphone 4. Then I would take your teaser seriously!!
