According to the guys at GSMArena.com, Sony Ericsson has confirmed that the XPERIA X1 will not receive any official upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5. Bad news.

Like the article says, there is no official WM6.5 update for the X1. However, you can flash any of the custom ROMs available at http://xda-developers.com. You’ll also find plenty of instructions as to how to go about the flashing there.
