I had originally intended to take along with me a spare phone for my trip to Ghana, but changed my mind at the last minute. This turned out to be a bad move.
You see, while voice roaming worked fine, I have been unable to use internet access with my SIM. Eventually, I had to purchase a SIM here in Ghana for mobile internet usage. Because I have no spare phone, I keep swapping SIMs on the available phone. This has meant that I am not reachable for voice when I have the Ghanaian SIM in use and vice versa.
It is a minor inconvenience, afterall I am on holiday and do not quite want to be inundated with calls. But who knows?
Do you think you would need a spare mobile phone when roaming? If yes, for what purposes? Comments please.

I carry two phones by default. 1st one is my main line while the 2nd one is a "permanent substitute". I thus cannot suffer the inconvenience of frequently swapping SIMs from my main phone when travelling.
