I have been working behind the scenes on a concise guide to mobile internet in Nigeria. Nigeria is one of the fastest growing mobile voice and internet countries in the world. This free ebook provides concise but useful information about the available GSM-based mobile internet services in the country.

Your tip on zain proxy setting helped me to finally start browsing by tethering my phone to my PC.
But I couldn’t do any ftp stuff. Is it not supported or does it require some settings also.
Thanks a lot, keep up the good work.

IG, I don’t recall including anything on Zain proxy in my guide. However, if you are using Zain internet (not WAP), you should be able to do FTP without issues. WAP access does not allow FTP.
Kalu, what web hosting connection?

@Saheed,
We are not aware of any official free browsing settings for MTN/Zain and don’t have such settings.
When the networks do make them available we will let you know. So keeping reading MobiNaija.
